Tennessee jail chief to resign after Christa Pike’s failed execution


The head of prisons within the US state of Tennessee is about to resign after the failed execution of demise row inmate Christa Pike on Wednesday.

Governor Bill Lee introduced the change on Saturday, in accordance with the BBC’s US accomplice CBS News.

Tennessee Department of Correction Commissioner Frank Strada mentioned in an announcement to CBS that his stepping down is “in the most effective pursuits” of the state, and known as the continued investigation into the incident “fully acceptable and vital”.

Pike, who was sentenced to demise in 1996 for the homicide of Colleen Slemmer, survived two deadly injections and is now in vital situation at a Tennessee hospital as her legal professionals search to commute her sentence.
