Michael Douglas isn’t afraid to ruffle some feathers while defending his longtime friend.

The 82-year-old Wall Street actor recently went viral for shady comments he made about Cher‘s 1988 Oscars win for Moonstruck.

On Friday night (October 30), Michael appeared on U.K.’s The Graham Norton Show, reuniting with his Fatal Attraction co-star Glenn Close nearly 40 years after their thriller hit theaters in 1987.

During the episode, Glenn, 79, spoke about the honorary Oscar she’ll be receiving at the 2026 Governors Awards later this month, joking that she’s only receiving it because the Academy members “probably don’t want to feel guilty anymore,” given that she’s been nominated for 8 Oscars, but never won.

“She should have won with Fatal Attraction,” Michael then chimed in. “She was nominated, I believe, [for] her fourth [time for] Fatal Attraction. Cher won that year.”

“Was that for Moonstruck?” host Graham Norton asked, referring to the 80-year-old icon’s 1987 rom-com. “Oh, wow.”

“I know. That’s what we all said,” Michael quipped, which lead to shocked laughter from Glenn, Graham, fellow guests Kieran Culkin and Naomi Ackie, along with the studio audience.

“The shade! The shade, mate!” Naomi, 35, exclaimed.

“Glenn gave one of the greatest performances of all time,” Michael added before Graham playfully noted, “But Cher put some grey in her hair — so there you go.”

The 2026 Governors Awards will be taking place on November 15. Find out who else will be receiving an honorary Oscar!
