Jeff Bezos wrote his first letter to Amazon shareholders in 1997. Amazon had simply gone public and Bezos informed traders he could be making selections for the long run and that short-term Wall Street reactions wouldn’t affect his route and selections for the corporate. In 1999, Barron’s put “Amazon.bomb” on its cowl. By late 2001, Amazon’s inventory suffered a serious fall. It plummeted beneath $6 per share. Investors weren’t pleased. But Bezos saved constructing warehouses, enhancing Amazon software program, and dealing on buyer belief. And he connected his first 1997 letter to each annual report. He needed traders to belief his long-term imaginative and prescient.
