Beginning in early 2024, Henry McMaster (R), South Carolina’s governor, was the chair of the Southern Regional Education Board Commission on Artificial Intelligence in Education.

In his function, McMaster convened with different training and trade leaders to chart a course for using AI in school rooms and to arrange the workforce for the know-how.

“When used accurately, AI is a robust instrument able to reshaping our training system,” McMaster wrote. “By working collectively, we are able to overcome the challenges that AI presents and harness its energy to make sure our college students are ready for the workforce of the longer term.”

In normal, McMaster is cautious towards dashing into authorities regulation on AI, arguing that politicians do not have a complete understanding yet of its advantages and disadvantages.

Regarding his view on knowledge facilities, McMaster mentioned in late September that he doesn’t plan to name for a statewide knowledge middle moratorium.

The state homes three of Google’s knowledge facilities, which opened in 2007. In 2024, the corporate introduced it will set up two new knowledge middle campuses within the state, a mixed capital allocation of $3.3 billion.

“Google’s newest capital allocation will strengthen South Carolina’s place as an rising chief in know-how and innovation,” McMaster wrote in a statement.
