The Dock on Mac, From OS 10 to macOS 27

I wrote the chapter on app icon history for The iOS App Icon Book.

The different day I discovered an previous be aware stashed away the place I had began researching the macOS model of that chapter (which Michael in the end ended up writing).

At the time, I didn’t know what to write down. I imply, how do you write a historical past of icon design for the Mac? It’s wealthy!

To get my artistic juices flowing, I began by researching the totally different docks in macOS by way of the years and compiled all of them right into a single graphic (large shout out to this compilation of images on 512 Pixels).

I simply wished to protect and archive that picture. Check out the high-res version here.

That’s it, that’s the put up.
