Taylor Swift Dedicates Video of the Year Award to ‘Final Showgirl’ Dolly Parton at MTV VMAs 2026
Taylor Swift gained the ultimate award of the evening on the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (September 27) on the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old “Patient Zero” singer picked up Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” which was offered to her by the night’s host, Snoop Dogg. This is her sixth win within the class on the VMAs!
In her acceptance speech, Taylor devoted the award to the late Dolly Parton, whom she known as “the last word showgirl.”
Taylor began her speech by saying how proud she was of the “The Fate of Ophelia” video, and doing “one steady shot,” for which she needed to study “quite a bit about hiding cuts.”
She then went on to dedicate the award to Dolly and praised the late entertainer.
“I wish to thank and dedicate this award to 1 particular person, with out whom simply this wouldn’t be occurring, and that particular person is the last word showgirl, Dolly Parton,” Taylor shared to cheers from the viewers.
“Every single music that she wrote, her storytelling was so vivid and so wealthy. It was like listening to her songs,” she continued. “It’s like watching the perfect music video you could have ever seen in your life each single time you hear what she has written, and she or he dealt with this factor with such grace and pleasure and love and gratitude for the truth that she acquired to do that, and every little thing that occurred in her life or her profession, she channeled again into love, and gratitude and appreciation for her followers.”
