An Israeli air assault has killed Izz al-Din al-Beik, the top of the Hamas armed wing within the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources and Israeli officers stated.
Al-Beik was killed in an Israeli strike on an house constructing in Gaza City’s Nassr neighbourhood early on Tuesday, medics and Hamas sources stated.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz posted a joint assertion on X, saying the army had killed al-Beik.
Al-Beik had assumed command of the Qassam Brigades in northern Gaza throughout Israel’s genocidal conflict, succeeding senior commander Ahmed al-Ghandour.
