Fireworks and tear fuel as protesters and riot police conflict in Paris

Police have clashed with protesters in Paris as some demonstrations in France turned violent on Saturday.

A largely peaceable day of protests was unrest after dusk, as protesters have been seen throwing objects and fireworks at police.

Around 70,000 officers have been deployed throughout France for a second consecutive weekend and used tear fuel and water cannons to disperse crowds.

The Interior Ministry estimated round 400,000 folks took half in Saturday’s demonstrations, with almost 1,000 arrests made.

Europe correspondent Nick Beake reviews from Paris, the place he says there are few indicators the unrest will ease quickly.
