TikTok completely bans ‘Musk’ documentary promoting account

A four-hour documentary about Elon Musk continues to fulfill resistance from social media platforms, with TikTok banning the movie’s promoting account.

According to a story in The Hollywood Reporter, the documentary’s distributor Bleecker Street was not too long ago notified by TikTok that the account had acquired a “everlasting suspension” because of its political content material. TechCrunch has reached out to TikTok for remark.

Ads selling the trailer for “Musk” — directed by Oscar-winner filmmaker Alex Gibney — have been  initially rejected by Meta and YouTube as well, although these platforms finally allowed the advert, with Meta blaming the rejection on “an error.” Gibney recently confirmed that the movie’s transnational distributor Universal had wavered in its plans to launch “Musk,” although it’s now transferring ahead.

X, which Musk owns, has refused to hold adverts for “Musk.” TikTok’s U.S. operations are partly owned by Larry Ellison — who, like Musk, has been a notable supporter of President Donald Trump.

“Musk” opened in simply 4 theaters final weekend and is now rolling out extra broadly. Next 12 months, it’s imagined to stream on HBO — now part of Paramount/Skydance and led by Ellison’s son David.
