University of Georgia scholar dancing on sofa close to window falls 8 tales and survives
A University of Georgia student survived a plunge from her eighth-floor house, authorities mentioned Monday, after she had been “dancing on a sofa close to a window” and fell out.
The terrifying fall from the Rambler Athens Apartments at 558 W. Broad St. in Athens occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, in accordance with police information.
The “scholar was dancing on a sofa close to a window that was open” and “fell from the 8th ground window and landed on the pool deck beneath,” the Athens-Clarke County Police Department mentioned in a press release to NBC News.
Remarkably, 21-year-old Virginia native Kristen Elizabeth Sargent appeared to have survived this harrowing plunge.
“At this time, she is aware and alert however critically injured,” police added.
A cushioned metallic bench might need damaged the 5-foot-7, 115-pound girl’s fall.
“I arrived and spoke with bystanders who suggested that the feminine sufferer had been dancing on a sofa or air mattress which was close to an open window and had apparently fallen by the display and onto the bottom beneath,” in accordance with a report by ACC police Sgt. Erik Ellison.
“When I arrived, the sufferer was on the bottom close to the pool, which at this complicated is in a courtyard on the second ground of the constructing. It appeared from the scene that the sufferer had struck a metallic bench as she fell, because the cushion on the bench had some blood on it and the armrest of the bench had damaged off.”
The preliminary probe “to date means that this was an accident” and that the sufferer “will survive,” Ellison added.
