Man Dies After Coming into Tiger Enclosure At British Zoo


LONDON, Oct 10 (Reuters) – British police stated a person died on Saturday after he entered a tiger enclosure on the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and was attacked.

South Yorkshire Police stated officers had been referred to as to the zoo following experiences a person had entered the enclosure, including that there was no wider threat to the general public.

“The man’s household is conscious and is being supported by specialist officers. Our ideas are with them at this distressing time,” the police stated in a press release.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park stated it had closed after a “critical incident” involving the tiger enclosure and was working with authorities to determine what had occurred. The zoo will stay closed till Sunday, it added.

“The security and wellbeing of our guests, workers and animals stay our highest precedence,” it stated in a press release on its web site.
