Mikel Arteta: “It’s been an extended overseas break with some gamers having totally different points,” says Arsenal’s head coach in an interview with TNT Sports. “The group look good and we have now some extent to show after what occurred in our final sport.”
An electronic mail: “Happy Saturday, Barry,” writes Mark Kerry. “Is it simply me or are there different baffled Arsenal followers on the market relating to Arteta’s obsession with beginning Havertz as a centre ahead? I simply can’t see the rationale for it at this level, on condition that Havertz has confirmed over the previous couple of seasons that he’s in no way prolific, whereas Gyokeres is clearly a succesful finisher – as exemplified each by final season within the Premier League but additionally throughout latest internationals. Would Arsenal not be higher to stick with, and even adapt to,a extra pure objective scorer?”
I’m not an Arsenal fan, baffled or in any other case, however I don’t suppose Gyokeres is an effective sufficient centre-forward to play for them and I’m undecided he’s accomplished wherever close to sufficient to persuade Mikel Arteta in any other case. His forte is operating behind into the type of area Arsenal simply aren’t afforded by most groups they play towards and for such an enormous unit, his hold-up play is dismal. It doesn’t shock me that Kai Havertz is picked forward of him.
