Tom Pidcock ‘mad’ after team-mates hit by automobile throughout Tre Valli Varesine


Tom Pidcock wished to “cease racing” after saying that two of his team-mates have been hit by a police automobile travelling the improper means down the course on the Tre Valli Varesine in Italy.

Pidcock completed second on the one-day race in Varese however was left “mad” after Pinarello-Q36.5 team-mates Marcel Camprubi and Thomas Gloag have been knocked off their bikes with six laps of the ending circuit to go.

Spain’s Camprubi was in a position to proceed within the race however Pidcock’s fellow Briton Gloag stopped and required stitches on his knee.

“First of all, I wished to cease the race, cease racing myself,” Pidcock informed Eurosport after the race, which was received by Belgium’s Jarno Widar in a dash end.

“I used to be mad. I had guys all using in entrance of me, for me, after which two of them are on the ground.

“This should not occur. But we continued and bought again into the race and I’m completely satisfied that I could possibly be on the rostrum.”

BBC Sport has contacted race organisers and native police for remark.

In August, two-time Olympic mountain bike champion Pidcock received his second cross-country global community title on the Mountain Bike World Championships.

He devoted that win to British bike owner Finlay Tarling, 19, who died on 14 August throughout the Volta a Portugal following a high-speed collision with a van that had strayed on to the closed street.

Camprubi posted an image of a damaged bike on Instagram Stories, with a caption that learn: “Sad that it’s important to danger your life to race, one month after a tragic accident.”
