The attacker disguised herself within the uniform of the college she focused earlier than finishing up the assault at Şeyh Şamil Imam Hatip Secondary School in Istanbul’s Başakşehir district, Education Minister Yusuf Tekin stated.

The assault befell at round 8:35 am native time (7:35 am CEST), based on the district governor. Authorities apprehended the suspect, recognized as a 15-year-old Tenth-grade scholar at a unique establishment.

Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu stated eight college students had been injured, one critically and two in a moderate-to-serious situation.

“The therapy of our eight wounded … is continuous in our hospitals, and we’re intently monitoring their well being standing,” he stated. One scholar subsequently died, Tekin confirmed.

Classes on the college had been suspended for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Istanbul’s third Criminal Court of Peace imposed a broadcasting ban on protection of the incident, with Turkey’s media regulator RTÜK citing the necessity to shield the investigation and “make sure the arrest of suspects”.

Imam hatip faculties are state-funded spiritual secondary faculties initially established to coach imams and prayer leaders.

Under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s authorities, the faculties now enrol a considerable share of Turkish secondary college students.

Critics have argued the growth has come on the expense of secular schooling. There aren’t any indications at the moment that the assault was politically or ideologically motivated.
