1000’s march in Madrid to protest eviction of 87-year-old girl
The eviction of 87-year-old Maricarmen Abascal on Wednesday sparked a thousands-strong protest within the streets of Madrid Saturday, with demonstrators calling for higher safety for tenants. Widespread anger at rising housing prices have put strain on centre-left Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, whose authorities is anticipated to approve a package deal of pro-tenant measures in its subsequent cupboard assembly.
